"Tesselations"

In this introductory co-curricular, students learned about the geometric patterns of Islamic Art Design. Most of these patterns are based on the repetition of a single motif, which is designed in such a way that all the recurring components fit together in a perfect sequence. In just under 8 weeks, students were able to create a sequence- or tesselation- based on the 4 - fold design. Students created two motifs: Cappella Palatina from AD 1132 and the Great Mosque of Kairouan from AD 670
